Turn your basic cork hot pads into some cheery and colorful ones, to match your kitchen and table setting beautifully!
This pattern describes in US terminology, how to crochet a lovely hot pad cover, as shown in pictures, made using sport weight cotton yarn and crochet hook D (3 mm).
Each hot pad cover will be made in 2 separate panels, to cover the front and back side of a cork hot pad. Front and back panels are joined together with single crochet and finished off with a combination of single crochet and bobble stitches.
In this pattern, you will be working in rounds joined with a slst at the end.Schachenmayr / SMC Catania was used to create the pictured hot pad covers. Finished size will be approx. 8.2” (21 cm) in diameter, including the edge.
Skill level: intermediate crochet.
Approx. Gauge: To make sure the panels will fit your hot pad, you may need to check your gauge; crochet rounds 1 - 4 of the panel pattern and measure your work. It should be approx. 3.54” (9 cm) in diameter. If it’s not, try again changing your tension, or size crochet hook.

- crochet hook size D (3 mm)
- sport weight cotton yarn, for 1 hot pad: approx. 32 g, 85 yds, 78 m
- stitch markers, tapestry needle, scissors, measuring tape
- cork hot pad approx. 7,5” (19 cm) in diameter
